Application Process
If you’re interested in applying, please note we’re a little different than most employers!
For starters, you must be a British citizen. Also, please remember what GCHQ is - an intelligence agency - if you wish to apply for a position here you must limit those you tell about your application to your immediate family (parents and/or siblings) and your partner.
Another difference is in the background checks we need to make before you start. It’s called the vetting process, and it’s designed to clear you for working with the security services. Please bear in mind that while we try to be quicker, your application could take anything up to nine months from start to finish. It’s not fast, perhaps, but it’s fair and thorough. And it’s there to help everyone, so please bear with us.
