IT, Internet & Engineering
Technology lies at the heart of our work, and we use it to:
- Collect and process digital signals
- Protect the UK's IT infrastructure (information assurance)
- Deliver information to our own people, and customers
- Monitor the digital (web) space
We're home to one of Europe's most powerful computers, and some 1500 people are engaged directly with IT in some form - including software, hardware, telecommunications and research and development. (There's also a specialist Information Assurance team within our partner organisation, CESG).
Increasingly, the internet has become a focus for our work. The threats it presents - in terms of hacking, information flow and sharing - mean we need to be fully prepared and one step ahead.
We recruit into the following disciplines:
- Cyber Security
- Information Assurance
- ICT Research (Applied Research)
- Project Management
- Telecommunications Engineering
- IT Infrastructure Engineering
- IT Service Management
- Systems Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Electrical & Mechanical Engineering
This is a huge and growing IT operation, with countless career paths and exceptional training and development opportunities at all levels. We are always interested to hear from people looking to build their career in this area.
We're also committed to increasing female representation in the engineering and technology professions, and to this end are proud to sponsor the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) 'Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award'.
