Information & Communications Technology Research
Technology advances quickly. No sooner has one device or platform been launched, another’s waiting to take its place – bigger, better, faster. We need to be aware of what’s out there, what’s coming, and how, and if, we can use it. That’s what this team does, researching emerging technologies and evaluating their potential for our business, and creating solutions to the risks they pose.
This is a highly creative and leading-edge technical environment which perfectly balances commercial imperatives with academic quality research. While the majority of roles are based within our ICT Research team, a very small number will work closer to the business, exploring how to integrate emerging technologies within GCHQ’s operational work. The areas of work include:
- High Speed Internet Processing
- Hardware (FPGA)
- Network Exploration
- Data mining
- Natural Language Processing
- Mobile Technology
- Internet Research and Stream Analysis
For all the roles you will be expected to have, or be studying towards, a minimum 2:1 honours degree in a single or joint subject such as Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or any other numerate/technical subject.
