There are plenty of misconceptions about working at GCHQ. We know that some people think we're a mysterious business, full of boffins talking in hushed tones and avoiding contact with the outside world. But life here isn't about skulking around in dark corners. It's about sharing ideas and being inspired by our colleagues, in a supportive and open plan environment. And we all share a desire to succeed - because everyone here has a vital part to play in our mission.
We're here to protect the interests of all British people, so we're doing a lot to make our working environment appropriate to the wide range of personalities, backgrounds and talents in the British population.
We want you to enjoy yourself too. So, while we work hard, we offer plenty of opportunities for our people to have fun and get together in their free time. Whether that's through getting involved with our sporting activities - from football to zumba, triathlon, sailing and more - or any of a wide variety of social events including family days, theatre trips and days at the races. We also have musical groups to join, such as our choir and brass band. Or, if you prefer socialising online, you can share your thoughts on one of our many internal blogs and community forums.
Meanwhile, in your breaks at work, you can take advantage of our on-site shop, restaurant, deli bar, coffee shops and gym.
