Around Gloucestershire

What’s Gloucestershire best-known for? Probably the Cotswolds, the UK’s largest designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Water also features – and not just the recent floods which put Tewkesbury and other local towns on national news. The River Wye and Severn run nearby, offering a range of activities and views, while the Wildlife and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge is one of the country’s most famous bird-watching centres. There are cathedrals, gardens and stately homes and – if you’re into that kind of thing – plenty of spooks (and not of the GCHQ kind) with ‘Ghostlyshire’ often dubbed the most haunted county in England.
