Description

GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency with a mission to keep the UK safe. We use cutting-edge technology, ingenuity, and partnerships to identify, analyse, and disrupt threats. Working with our intelligence partners, MI5 and MI6, we protect the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks, and espionage.

As one of our Administrative Officers, you’ll support teams across GCHQ, helping things run smoothly while building valuable skills along the way. Day-to-day, you could be gathering information, organising meetings, managing records, booking travel, or supporting visitors, keeping everything on track behind the scenes. After 18 months, there will be opportunities to apply for promotion within admin roles or explore new paths across GCHQ or our partner agencies.

The application window for Administrative Officer will open on Monday 20th July 2026. In the meantime, we encourage:

  • People from Black, Asian or other ethnic minority backgrounds
  • Women (of any background)

to register your interest in this forthcoming opportunity*

Once you register, you’ll gain access to a series of online events ahead of the campaign launch, including Meet & Engage to ask questions about the role and an Application and Interview Information Session with practical tips for applications and interviews.

Event details

We’re hosting these virtual sessions to help you prepare and succeed:

  • Meet & Engage on 15th July at 6:00pm and 16th July at 10am. The content will be the same across both sessions, so you only need to attend one.
  • Application and Interview Information Session on Thursday 16th July at 2:30pm to 3:30pm.

Each event will last approximately one hour.

Please note that a registration of interest does not constitute a job application, nor will such registration have any bearing upon the recruitment process itself. Any individuals who register their interest and who decide subsequently to apply for the Admin Officer role will need to complete an application form once the window for applications has opened.

Before you Register

To work for us, you need to be a British citizen or hold dual British nationality. You can read our full eligibility criteria here.

These roles require the highest security clearance, known as Developed Vetting (DV). It’s something everyone in the UK Intelligence Community undertakes. You can find out more about the vetting process here.

*Please note that we are confining registrations of interest to these groups only, due to their current under-representation in our workforce. Once the application window has opened, we welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of their ethnic background, gender, disability and/or any other characteristic(s).

All applications will be assessed solely on merit.
